The name Blossom reflects growth, unfolding potential and the beauty of becoming.

A wood-fired sauna paired with cold therapy, including cold plunge and ice baths. Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before booking. If your question is not here, send us a message and we will answer it personally.

01Us and the place

Where are you based?

Bloom with Berry is nestled within the beautiful surroundings of Howgills Hideaway, between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Our cosy handcrafted yurt and wood-fired sauna sit amongst the rolling hills of the Howgill Fells, surrounded by birdsong, fresh air and wide open skies.

What do you offer?

A range of wellbeing experiences:

  • Yoga classes and workshops
  • Private yoga sessions
  • Ayurvedic Yoga Massage
  • Health and wellbeing coaching
  • Sauna rituals and sauna experiences
  • Seasonal events and retreats
  • Private group bookings and bespoke wellbeing days

Everything is designed to help you pause, reconnect and leave feeling more grounded, energised and nourished.

What makes Bloom with Berry different?

At the heart of everything is a belief that wellbeing does not have to be complicated, intimidating or serious all of the time.

You will find movement and stillness, warmth and wildness, deep rest and belly laughs. You might be stretching in the yurt one moment and cooling off barefoot in the grass the next.

Our approach weaves together yoga, coaching, massage, sauna, nature and poetry to create experiences that help you feel more connected to yourself, to others and to the natural world around you.

Think less wellness perfection and more muddy boots, rosy cheeks, meaningful moments and feeling gloriously alive.

Can I stay overnight?

Yes. We are based at Howgills Hideaway, a beautiful glamping site nestled amongst the Howgill Fells. Many guests choose to combine a wellbeing experience with an overnight or weekend stay, creating a mini retreat amongst nature.

Accommodation is booked separately through Howgills Hideaway, unless it is a full weekend retreat with accommodation included.

02If you are new, or nervous

Can beginners attend your events?

Yes. Many people come to their first ever yoga class, sauna ritual or wellbeing event with us. You are welcome exactly as you are. No experience required.

I feel stressed, overwhelmed or burnt out. Is this for me?

Many people arrive feeling exactly that way.

You do not need to be calmer, fitter, bendier or more zen before coming. The whole point is that you come as you are.

Whether you are seeking rest, connection, movement, joy, quiet, adventure or simply a couple of hours to yourself, you will be warmly welcomed.

I am feeling a bit nervous. Will I fit in?

If you are feeling nervous, you are not alone.

Many people tell us they almost did not book because they felt unsure, anxious or worried they would not know anyone. Then they arrive, take a deep breath, and realise there is nothing to prove and nowhere to perform.

This is not about being the fittest, bendiest or most confident person in the room. It is simply about showing up as you are. You will be met with warmth, kindness and a healthy dose of laughter too.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely, and in fact many people do. Whether you are joining a yoga class, sauna ritual, workshop or retreat day, you will be warmly welcomed.

There is no expectation to chat if you would rather enjoy some quiet time, but equally you will often find yourself amongst a lovely group of like-minded people. Many wonderful conversations and friendships have started around the sauna, over a cup of tea or whilst watching the clouds drift over the fells.

03Yoga

Do I need to be flexible or experienced to come to yoga?

Not at all. Our classes are welcoming and accessible, whether you are stepping onto a yoga mat for the very first time or have practised for years. Yoga is not about touching your toes, it is about connecting with yourself.

Options are always offered and you are encouraged to listen to your own body rather than compare yourself to anyone else.

What kind of yoga do you offer?

A mixture of flow or vinyasa style, where movements are more fluid, and yin yoga, where we hold postures for a short period to soften into them, often using props to give extra support.

What should I wear for yoga?

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely is perfect. There is no need for special yoga clothes.

Layers can be useful, as we often begin with movement and finish with relaxation.

04Sauna rituals

I have never been to a sauna ritual before. What should I expect?

A sauna ritual is so much more than simply sitting in a hot room.

Using heat, steam, scent, music and traditional sauna techniques, we guide you through a carefully crafted experience designed to help you relax, reset and reconnect.

There may be moments of stillness, gentle mindfulness, invigorating heat, cooling down, fresh air and a lot of smiling. Every ritual is slightly different, but all are designed to leave you feeling wonderfully refreshed.

Are sauna rituals suitable for everyone?

Sauna rituals are suitable for most people, but they may not be appropriate with certain medical conditions.

If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, uncontrolled blood pressure, or any health concerns that may be affected by heat exposure, please consult your healthcare professional before booking. Our full terms and conditions have more detail.

If you are unsure whether a sauna ritual is suitable for you, get in touch and we can have a chat.

Is the sauna mixed gender?

Most social sauna sessions and rituals are mixed gender unless otherwise stated. Swimwear is always worn, and creating a welcoming, respectful and comfortable environment for everyone is incredibly important to us.

Occasionally women only, men only or private sessions are available.

What should I bring to a sauna session?

Please bring:

  • Swimwear
  • Two towels, one to sit on and one for drying
  • Flip flops or similar for moving between the yurt, sauna and tubs
  • Warm layers for afterwards, especially in colder weather
Can I use the cold tubs?

Absolutely, although it is always your choice. Many people enjoy alternating between heat and cold as part of the sauna experience, but there is never any pressure to use the cold tubs. You are encouraged to listen to your body and do what feels right for you.

05Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

What is Ayurvedic Yoga Massage?

A floor based massage that combines deep tissue massage, assisted yoga stretches and breathwork into a unique treatment that works on both body and mind.

Using oil, Ayurvedic powder and flowing stretches, the treatment can help ease tension, improve mobility and create a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing. Many people describe it as feeling both energising and restorative at the same time.

My body feels quite stiff. Will I be able to do the assisted stretches?

Yes. This kind of massage is ideal for anyone experiencing tension or stiffness, as the stretches are guided by us to help soften and open the body and release tension. There are lots of different stretches, so we can find the right ones for you.

What do I wear for a massage?

You simply leave your underwear on, and lungis (sheets) are used to cover and drape you throughout.

06Booking and practical bits

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes please. Most classes, sauna sessions, treatments and events require advance booking as spaces are often limited. Booking ahead ensures your place and helps create the best experience for everyone attending.

Can I book the yurt and sauna for a private group?

Yes. The yurt and sauna can be booked for private gatherings, celebrations, wellbeing days, friendship groups, retreats, team events and special occasions.

Experiences can be tailored to your group and may include yoga, sauna rituals, coaching, massage, guided relaxation and more.

What if the weather is bad?

One of the joys of the yurt and sauna is that they are wonderful in all seasons.

The yurt is warm, sheltered and cosy, while the sauna is particularly magical when the weather is wild outside. Rain on the roof, mist over the hills and steam rising into cool air often make for some of the most memorable experiences.

Is there parking available?

Yes, free parking is available on site at Howgills Hideaway. Full directions and arrival information are provided when you book.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies vary depending on the type of booking or event, so please check the specific booking information when you reserve your place. The full detail is in our terms and conditions.

If you are unsure, just get in touch and we will be happy to help.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available and can be used towards treatments, sauna experiences, yoga classes, events and wellbeing experiences.

They are a lovely way to give someone the gift of time, rest, connection and a little space to breathe.
